Some of us enjoy being associated with a fashion vision or a specific brand. We pay for the exclusive sensation that fashion houses, such as Ralph Lauren or Hermes give us. Do we really pay more than $100 dollars for a t-shirt just because its quality is good? Of course, there are other reasons and most of them are psychological. Actually, people buy expensive clothes in order to be considered by others to be rich. In this case we pay for the sense of ‘success’. If you own a scarf of a belt of some certain brand, it merely means that you want to associate yourself to the fashion house.
One more curious fact is that, despite the general recession the world faces nowadays, there are quite a lot of rich people. As a matter of fact, there are more millionaires than ever before! Not all (yet most of them) can afford better brands than Zara or H&M. They purchase exclusive cars, collect rare jewels and paintings. Then why would they save money on clothes and shoes? Of course they don’t – they pay for higher quality and do not mind spending a thousand or two on a tie, belt or a pair of gloves. Fashion houses, stylists and designers are ready to do all it takes to attract rich people. Business is business and if there are people who are ready to pay money, then there will always be someone who is ready to take that money. In return they offer creative ideas. Louis Vuitton and Gucci would probably bankrupt if there were no rich people!
