3. Fattening zero-calorie diet drinks
Diet drinks are either extremely low n calories or contain no calories at all. Unfortunately, that does not guarantee that you will not gain pound if you consume diet drinks. American researchers from the University of Texas carried out studies to see whether diet soda consumers are satisfied with their figures. The results showed that there were 5 times as many people who weighed more due to soda drinking as those who did not consume zero-calorie drinks. Experts claim that this happens simply because people consuming diet sodas eat more unhealthy foods thinking that diet drinks ‘eliminate’ the danger. According to dietitian Cassie Bjork, this is a psychological phenomenon people that tend to ignore.
4. Exclude diet drinks to avoid 2 diabetes
One of the universities based in Minnesota also carried our research on the risks to develop type 2 diabetes in patients who regularly consume fizzy drinks. It was proved that diet sodas increase blood pressure and cholesterol. They also elevate glucose. All these in turn make people produce more insulin. As a result, people gain weight, develop diabetes, plus weaken their heart and cardiovascular system.
