3. The Smith Machine Squat
You can find the Smith Machine in almost every gym. People use it to do squats. They sometimes add weight to make their squats more complex. However, this kind of equipment should be avoided. This machine makes you perform the exercise in an absolutely linear position. This puts too much stress on the lumbar (i.e. lower back) and knees. Moreover, if you are used to working out in reverse to strengthen your biceps and shoulders, you may cause severe nerve impingement. As a matter of fact, there’re no ways to help you use this machine in a safe manner whatsoever.
4. Round Back Barbell Rows and Round Back Deadlifts
You might have heard that those who want to lift a lot of weight practice round back lifts. But did you know that this type of exercise causes very serious damage to your spinal cord? There have been cases when round back exercises caused paralysis. Some will try to convince you that round back lifts are safe and done by every weightlifter. It is said that it is quite natural and harmless for an athlete to round the back while lifting weights. This maneuver might be natural, but definitely not safe. It’s natural to consume vitamins and minerals, but taking too many of them may cause allergies. What we mean is that even if what you do is natural, still, when taken to extremes, such stuff can cause serious issues.
