3. Cruise Ships Cause Air Pollution
Cruise ships are also called “floating cities”. That’s because thousands of passengers travel on them all at the same time. Cruise ships are created for people of various ages and tastes; hence you can find all you can imagine on them: swimming pools, tennis courts, gyms, restaurants, playgrounds for kids, saunas, casinos and many other entertainment facilities. To keep everything going the ship needs to maintain them. And in order to maintain such things the ship needs energy. Planes carry much fewer passengers and they pollute our atmosphere less. Compare the data: a cruise ship on average emits 0.43 kg of CO2 per passenger per mile while an average plane emits 0.257 kg of CO2 per flight. Sometimes we are so sure that we know what is good and what is bad, that we do not bother to read the info prior to booking a trip. Did you know that cruise ships need diesel even when docked – the fuel that causes breathing issues and even cancer?
4. Dangers Caused by too Many People
Cruise liners have a special route. They stop from time to time. This allows passengers to get off the ship and look around. But the tourist danger that comes from a few thousand people at a time is incredible! The destination that tourists visit suffers too much. People do not help to solve environmental problems. On the contrary, tourism makes pollution worse. This includes air, water and soil pollution. The bad thing is that tourists leave the area and go back home without worrying about the damage they have done to the place and all local population. Coastal towns are usually small and damaging or destroying them takes very little time and effort.
