5. Drop by local bars and cafeterias
Eat in places where the locals eat. Those will be the best places any traveller could ever find! They are authentic and unique while all those bars and cafeterias where you meet other tourists offer international menus. Food helps to familiarize with the country and its culture. The local cuisine will always surprise you, especially if your destination is exotic. Talk to the waiter and ask for professional advice. You can trust local people and their taste – they will always want you to taste their best dishes and beverages.
6. Make a list of local events when you are still at home
Make your trip more meaningful and exotic – before you get on the plane remember to make a list of different holidays and festivals that might be taking place during your visit. Participate in them if it is possible or simply become a spectator. The jolly crowd is full of excited people. They will be happy to make friends with you and tell you more about the event and its history. Celebrate the day, listen to the music, taste the dishes, dance and just do what locals do!
